COVID-19 Update
Last Updated Jan 20, 2021
We have recently returned to in-person learning and continue to maintain our commitment to staying outside as much as possible. We have been continuously updating our safety protocols and have made some modifications to handle the colder weather. We have added an outdoor heater and are using both of our classroom buildings as temporary warming stations. Whenever indoors for any period of time, we enforce mask usage, social distancing, and fresh air circulation. It is imperative that all students come dressed for the cold temperatures every day. Please see this guide for recommendations on dressing children for the cold. Current Field Station families should watch their email for the latest updates.
Following the recommendations of many scientists and public health authorities, we are fully embracing the outdoor school model as a way to minimize the risk to our community while continuing to provide vital early childhood education. Field Station Preschool has always kept nature at the center of our curriculum, taking every opportunity to get kids outside hiking, playing, and exploring. Now we are taking that even further, committing to be outside all day, every day, with very limited exceptions for extreme weather. We have expanded our outdoor classroom spaces, added more equipment, installed canopies, and modified lesson plans, all to be able to provide the same top quality education outside.
Additionally, we have implemented a wide range of new safety protocols, including increased cleaning, daily wellness and temperature checks, and limited in-class parent volunteering. Please see the current version of our Safe Operating Plan, Updated Jan 19, 2021 for more details and guidance for parents. Of course, the situation is fluid, and we expect to continuously update our plan as conditions change. We sincerely appreciate your support and understanding during these unprecedented times.
Stay safe!
