2013 Sunset Soirée

Get ready to Rodeo at our annual Sunset Soirée!  Join the Field Station Cooperative on Saturday, May 18th, 6:00 p.m. for an adult only event at the Flying "H" Ranch, home of FS family Tom & Paula Hook in LaPorte, IN.  The evening features a catered Western style BBQ by The Rolling Stonebaker and an incredible line up of live music by The All Good Things Band & Friends. There will be a cash bar offering cocktails & craft beer from Shoreline Brewery, dancing, desserts, a large silent auction including beautiful framed Field Station kids’ artwork, and hopefully we'll be able to enjoy a beautiful sunset at the ranch before we get our bonfire blazing.

We are trying to encourage, and set a good example as far as going green this year. All of our dinnerware, and drink cups are compostable. We'll have spots for recycling, as well as trash. And we're encouraging carpool to reduce our carbon footprint for the party (and maybe a little bit to help preserve the grass on Paula's property).

This year's party is different from the soirée's in the past. As we are all aware, the Field Station is a cooperative. It's unique in the fact that we are all involved there with our children for similar reasons and interests; mainly our love for the natural world, and the ability to raise & educate our children in it. Because of this, our children have been able to foster not only a love for learning, but great friendships that will last a lifetime. We are simply wanting to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and loving friendships that we've maintained & created this year. It's time for us to relax, and enjoy a night we'll all remember while giving thanks and support to our wonderful school.

See you all there!

Why Fundraise?

The Field Station is a nature-focused learning center nestled within the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in Porter, Indiana. We are committed to teaching young children about the natural world around them and providing the opportunity to experience nature like so many of us did when we were kids.
Through our previous fundraising efforts, we have been able to renovate an abandoned old barn and a historic farmhouse.  Based out of these two beautiful facilities, the Field Station has over 80 students enrolled in our preschool and over 50 students that take part in our summer camps.  These students are able to experience and learn about the trails, Little Calumet River, wetlands and other great resources that we are so fortunate to have here in Northwest Indiana.
The proceeds from this year’s event will help us continue to give students the foundation they need for life-long learning.  Without our fundraising efforts, we would not be able to provide the education and experiences that are so important for preschoolers and their families.

A Very Special Thanks to our Contributors

With your help, our fundraising event has blossomed into a merrymaking day of friends coming together to support our school. A very heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you! We can't wait to get this party started!
